Plant Walk: Identifying Medicinal Plants of the Desert - December

  • Gilbert Riparian Preserve (map)

Location: Gilbert Riparian Preserve

The Riparian areas of the Sonoran Desert offer a unique experience of desert plants and animals who live near water. On this exciting plant walk, you’ll learn to identify medicinal and edible Sonoran plants who prefer to grow in washes and along riverbanks. We’ll also get to see waterfowl that don’t hang around in the dryer parts of the desert.

This walk is suitable for all skill levels and is on a paved surface.

Candice is certified in wilderness first aid and austere medicine and will be prepared for your safety. If you have allergies or asthma, please do not forget your epi-pen, inhaler, or anything else that will keep you well.  Sturdy shoes and one liter of water are required, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended. Anyone arriving unprepared (sandals, no water) will be turned away without a refund.
